Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best recognized for her performances as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She was kicked out of high school after her parents divorced to go into Los Angeles to live with her mother. As she struggled financially, she was able to land her first role as Rachel's Room's main character the web-based video show Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002, she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004 and she shared with her a Screen Actors Guild Award (with all the other actors) with her. Grace left the show in order to concentrate on her film career. She had starred alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog back in 2005. The actress has also appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 and in Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) Replays of roles. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes, playing Shannon. In 2013, she was in the seventh season Californication. In 2006, she was also nominated by her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. The year 2006 was the time she appeared in numerous commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However it was her performance as Rachel Dawes that brought her greater attention for her performance in The Dark Knight (2008). After her successful performance as an unmarried mother on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She subsequently starred in the comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). Other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent of The Secret Service in White House Down 2013 as well as a singer in Frank 2014 and as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the main character. The debut of Gyllenhaal as a filmmaker and writer took place in 2021, with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama in which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award.
